Well here we are finally working on the rudder! This photo
shows the lamination of the outside edge. This turned out to be a messy and challenging job.
Here is a shot of my hinges. If you notice, the last loop on each hinge has
been cut in half. This will allow a cotter pin to fit once the hinge pin is drilled.
Here I am starting the rounding process for the rudder.
This rudder is almost finished. I need to complete the control horns, sand
it a little more and apply a coat of varnish.
This photo shows the beginning of the laminating process for the stab. I
am using 100% poplar on the stab as I can get it at my local Home Depot, and the quality is superb.
The hinges have been installed, the lamination process is complete, and the cross members
are in place.
I have installed the support blocks and sanded the stab in this photo.
Stay tuned for there's more to come!
