Here are the landing gear pieces that I found one day while on the Great Planes web site.
They have everything you will need. The shafts, hubs, bearings, brake disks and calipers all fit perfectly together. The
only thing left to get is the hydraulic pieces.
The plan's designed landing gear for the rw26 are far too light for the engine
I'm planning on using. I have copied a cub style configuration that I think will work.
Here is one of the completed leg assemblies. The tubes are .090"
4130 steel. The hub is 3/8" thick and is 2" box steel with 1/4" sides welded to it.
These are the completed struts.
This is a close up of the springs and the bearings that I used. All the welding
was done by yours truely!
This is the base plate or frame that I fabricated. I used 2" X
1/2" "C" channel and the leg attach points are 3/8" X 2 X 2 box steel cut in half. It bolts
to the bottom of the aircraft, then the struts and springs. The tangs sticking out the side are the attach points
for the wing landing wires.
Here is a close up of the strut and leg assembly.
This is a close up of one of the leg attach points. The bolt in the picture
will be replaced with AN hardware in the final assembly.
This is the completed landing gear as it will be on the air frame. I still
need to order and build the wheel fairings and cover the gear legs for streamlining but this I can do during final assembly.
Some of the nuts have been intentionally left off for ease of disassembly.
