These first two photos show the beginning phases of construction for "Wing Panel #1" or the lower left wing.
Notice the "T" square clamped to the table and spars.
These next two photos show my modified nose ribs in place.
This photo shows an aileron bracket I had to design because I enlarged the wing straps to 2".
The wing straps at 2" made it impossible to use the plans designed aileron hinge strap. I also added a 1/4" birch plywood
solid rib and glued it to the existing wing rib and spars.
I added an extra hinge on the aileron. There is a hinge on either side and I grouped two hinges
in the middle. As you can see these hinges are designed from the existing plans. I have seen better
designs on the "web" but making changes now will only slow me down.
Here is "Wing Panel #1" at @ 99% complete. The nose ply is on, wing tip bow is on and
most of the hardware is in place. If you look closely you can see my 2" wing attach straps. Also I
added 1" X 1/16" birch strips along the top and bottom of all wing ribs. This tightened up the wing panel considerably.
As this was my first wing panel, mistakes were bound to happen. It is now necessary that I cut a whole in the
nose ply to be able to attach the wing strut and bracing wire straps. This could have been done I believe before
the nose ply was glued on. Oops!
The photo bellow shows both wing panels after being sanded and waiting to be varnished.
